Cebu and Bohol: The First Bite

I want to hug the person who have first thought of airfare promos! If not with that idea, I couldn't have had earlier my first plane ride :)

Years ago, going to a place by plane is pure luxury for me. That's during my striving college days.

We are part of the working, middle class and shelling out a huge amount of money for a one way plane ride is too much especially that that money can be used for more practical purposes (i.e. tuition fees, allowance, school requirements, etc). Thus, I told myself that after graduating, I'll save up to have that plane ride and start making that first step towards my dream.

Are you familiar with the Law of Attraction? The law simply states that 'like attracts like.' Though it has received mixed reactions from people, I still think it works because it did for me especially with this dream.

It was summer (March 2011) that time and I woke up early to finish some work I left online. I don't know what  I was thinking that very moment that the first website I check out (that was 4am) was airphils.com. I count myself lucky that day because airphil express had their first ever airfare promo (P100 base fare). Without hesitation, I booked a flight for Cebu for me and my parents. It was also very timely because I have some money left in my debit card.

Fast forward - June. I couldn't hide my excitement as days draw nearer to our scheduled trip (June 11-14 for Cebu and Bohol). As it was my first time to travel by plane, I was both anxious and excited. Good thing, my mom was there - haha.

Our first day was some sort of an 'amazing race' and here's why: from airport, we headed directly to SuperCat pier, then when we reached Bohol (which that time was raining cats and dogs), we find ourselves clueless where to go. When the rain stopped, we found a very nice trike driver (later became our tour guide) who took us to a budget-friendly pension house.

it rained when we're almost there :(

We didn't waste our time. Right after checking in, we went out to have a quick lunch and started our Bohol trip. Here are some snapshots of our 1st day in Bohol:

a lovely couple! :)
This was taken in the Blood Compact Site.

that little trike took us to so many places

Ang cute ng parents ko dito! Their newfound friends in Bohol :D

ang cuuuuuuuuuuuuute!
Our second day in Bohol was more relaxing. We get to savor every minute on each site compared to our 1st day where we're like chasing every second (the unpredictable weather was the culprit).

We sealed our last day in Bohol by attending a mass.
Took these photos before we left.

lovers in Paris Bohol

I find this building really interesting.
Being a nature-lover, Bohol has definitely met my expectations. It's a lovely island where beach bumming and history learning can be done at the same time. I just hope that the local government and the people there will do everything to preserve its natural beauty despite the booming tourism industry.

We paid the trike driver P1,000 which was good for 2 days.

I will miss you Bohol!
Later that afternoon, we checked out and headed to OceanJet pier bound for Cebu.

CEBU
We haven't actually been into so many places in Cebu because one, we're freakin' tired from our Bohol trip and second, we're close to going beyond our allotted budget.

tired and hungry
We spent hours just to find this lechon (roasted pig) house (or 'haus'). We rode a cab and walked for almost an hour just to find out that we're heading to the wrong direction.

finally!

We couldn't let this Cebu trip end without devouring on their signature dish - lechon!

This 4-day trip was a moment of many firsts - first plane ride, first out-of-Mindanao vacation with my parents, and this was the time when I've realized that I was bitten by the travel bug ;)

How about you?
When was the time when the wanderlust in you starts to kick in?
I'd love to read about it!
